South American cichlids - alternative to Angelfish or Discus fish
The Nannacara taenia species is a good alternative to most common bought South American cichlids which are Angelfish and Discus fish.
This small peaceful species reaches only 6 cm in length and thus can be kept in smaller fish tanks. Being an easy fish to breed for experienced fishkeepers and accepting almost all types of food, they're good for a community or even species tank. Since Striped dwarf cichlids come from Brasil, their aquarium must contain bogwood and plants. Cabomba plants are ideal.
Since this fish is peaceful, raising other peaceful and relatively small fish is recommended. Corydoras or Bristlenose catfish along with tetras are good company for Nannacara taenia.

Hopefully someone will decide to get this species and will give it a shot! More aquarists should keep (relatively) rare species in my opinion.
